Master Suite Cookville

We began by transforming a small den/TV room into a spacious master bathroom and walk-in closet—a rare and valuable feature in older homes. The new bathroom now boasts a beautifully tiled shower, a sleek sink and make-up vanity, and thoughtful design details. To enhance the
living space, we eliminated the original small bathroom off the living room, expanding the dining area and adding custom-built shelving painted in a bold black to contrast the home’s classic aesthetic. Throughout the home, we took care to retain its original charm by refinishing the gorgeous hardwood floors and applying a fresh coat of paint to brighten the space. One unique challenge was the home’s basement, previously accessible only by crawling to an exterior door under the deck. We solved this by installing a hidden floor door with stairs, creating seamless access to this newly functional storage and mechanical area. To accommodate the new staircase, we relocated the air return, making the space flow better overall. Upstairs, we gave the bathroom a modern refresh with a new tub and tile surround, a tiled floor, updated doors, a new vanity, and a fresh coat of paint. Additionally, we refinished the stair treads and replaced the skirt board for a cleaner, more polished look. This project beautifully blends modern convenience with historic charm, making this 1936 home more functional and stylish while preserving its timeless character.
